Calling all artists...
Orpheus Studio Productions would like to invite you to enter a Red Valley art competition!
We are looking for artists to create an innovative design of one of Warren’s iconic lines, ‘Gordon Porlock, Secret Warlock’.
Designs can be anything from just the text to visualisations and caricatures, so long as they include the words ‘Gordon Porlock, Secret Warlock’.
The competition is open to all. No professional qualification is required. The winner will be judged on how compelling the design is and how well it represents the work we do.
2x Runners Up:
Every entry must be a digital file. High resolution photos are acceptable to be judged, but if selected as the winner, we will require files to either be vector (.AI or .EPS preferred) or .PDF.
Please submit your entry along with the artist’s name, age, address, email address and a description of your inspiration to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please use the following email subject: Secret Warlock Design by [Name]
Deadline for submission is: Midnight (UK time) on Sunday 23rd October 2022
Voting for the winning design will be by the cast & crew of the Red Valley Podcast. Winners will be announced via social media and on our website.
Winners will be notified in November 2022
By submitting an entry, the artist consents that it is their own original work and they have all necessary rights and permissions to use any included elements. The winning artist grants to Orpheus Studio Productions the exclusive right to the design, including any modifications thereof, to be used on promotional/marketing and other Red Valley Podcast materials.
Copyright permission can be granted by the entrant if aged 18 years and over. If the entrant is aged under 18 years, copyright permission must be given by a responsible adult. A responsible adult for these purposes is defined as a parent/carer, teacher, social worker, counsellor, or youth worker. Proof of age may be required.
"Push the boundaries," said Brian Kesinger, an artist at Walt Disney Animation Studios. "Fan art isn't about rules. It's about expressing yourself."
Over the last 6 weeks there's been an influx of absolutely incredible fan art drawn for our show. We have loved seeing all of the interpretations of our characters through the eyes of our fans and want to support all who wish to keep making art. Creating fan art and putting it out there can be a tricky thing to navigate but we hope to make it a little clearer for you here. Fan art can be created for so many reasons and although we know that for some it could be simply for the joy of creating, we also fully appreciate that drawing your favourite characters or writing fanfic isn't always just for fun, it's also a way to explore identity and express oneself. It's also a wonderful opportunity for honing and developing one's craft and no matter what reason you are creating fan art we are fully behind all of these reasons.
To be clear, fan art is, by definition, drawn by fans. As such, the art does not represent any official representations of the characters featured in Red Valley from us at Orpheus Studio Productions. We own the intellectual property ("IP") of our show and when there are officially endorsed images of the show and our characters we will make this explicitly clear.
That is not to say that we don't absolutely adore seeing all of the wonderful sketches, paintings, digital art and animatics that all of these artists are making. Far from it! We want you all to keep drawing everything that your imagination can conjure up and keep sharing your art with us via the #redvalleyfanart.
What we wanted to clear up for you is the murky topic surrounding selling these artworks. If you wish to sell any of the artworks that you have created that represent Red Valley or any of its characters then we will ask you to read through and sign the licence below. We are happy to give you the permission to sell your artwork if you agree to the terms in the licence, so have a thorough read through it all before signing it and forwarding it on to us at email@example.com.
